David specialises in all aspects of family law, including divorce, separation, matrimonial finances, pre and post nuptial agreements and a host of private law children issues. He has developed a strong reputation in the field of family law over almost 20 years of practice.
He has considerable experience advising on UHNW and HNW divorce matters with an international element. Many of his cases involve trust structures, complex children issues and jurisdictional challenges. He regularly appears as an advocate at all levels of the court system and has acted in many significant reported and unreported cases before the Family Division of the Grand Court.
David has exceptional knowledge and experience of advising and representing clients in relation to child relocation issues. He has successfully acted for parents who have relocated with their children to the United Arab Emirates, the U.S.A. and Australia, to name a few.
Before joining Cayman Family Law, David was a partner and the head of family law at another firm in the Cayman Islands. He was also admitted as a lawyer in Northern Ireland and England and Wales.
As a certified Civil Court Mediator, David can also act as a mediator in private law family disputes. His depth of knowledge and experience in the area of family law gives him unique insight in these situations which can assist parties in resolving disputes outside of court.
David is the Treasurer of the Cayman Islands Family Law Bar Association and an Associate member of Resolution who are committed to promoting a constructive approach to family issues. David was part of the Children Act Reform Committee and he has delivered training on the Children Act (2012) Revision to government agencies.
